From May 31st to June 6th was held in São Paulo, Brazil, the first EXPOPRINT, a graphic arts show organized by the Brazilian association of graphic arts equipment vendors, AFEIGRAF. More than 28,000 visitors, mainly from all parts of Brazil, but also a significant amount from different Latin American countries, could see during one week the most new graphic arts equipments manufactured by world wide industries, displayed on 25,000 sqm by 350 exhibitors.

Komori participated at the show through its Brazilian distributor, Gutenberg, with a stand of 1,400 sqm, the biggest on the show. Three Komori presses were displayed in full operation on the stand, printing high quality print samples, very much appreciated by the visitors.

On display was a Komori LS-840P printing heavy stock cardboard four over four at 15,000 per hour. Mr. Ricardo Cruz, owner of RICARGRAF, the company that bought the LS-840P said: ¡ÈDespite having several multicolor Heidelberg presses in my press room, we decided for our first Komori, since we have a huge amount of cardboard four over four print jobs (promotional post cards) that can¡Çt be printed by no other printing press with so high quality and at such a reduced cost. I saw my press running on the show, and I¡Çm convinced that I will double my revenues, once this press is installed in my print shop.¡É One of the show days, Mr. Ricardo brought 100,000 sheets of cardboard to the fairgrounds and had printed his first job right on the show. His customer for the promotional post cards was delighted and so were other visitors who could see a real commercial job being printed.

The other Komori press on display was a L-628+C completely equipped with a Nordson UV-dryer, the first in Brazil. Mrs. Silvia Barossi owner of EMBANOR, already a Komori user, was close to tears when she saw her press running metal coated cardboard at a never seen quality. The print samples, a Brazilian flag for the soccer World Championship, a silver motorcycle and a silver Mercedes Benz, could be seen all over the exhibition in the hands of proud sample collectors. Mrs. Barossi said, that ¡ÈI could not consider another press brand besides a Komori, because of the extreme positive experience with my 4 years old L-540+C, when I considered a UV press for beer and vine labels, a major product of EMBANOR.¡É

The third Komori on display was a SPICA29P, a press that has big success in Brazil. Five SPICA29P have been sold during the exhibition to Brazilian customers and another two to customers from other Latin American countries. One of the new SPICA customers, Ms. Maria de Lourdes Alves, known as ¡ÈMara¡É from Edu Editora Gráfica in Natal, RN, a small city in the northern part of Brazil mentioned: ¡ÈI¡Çm sure that my recently died husband wanted me to buy a Komori press, because he always wanted me to continue with the print shop and have success. When I saw the SPICA printing on the show, I immediately knew that this was the only way for success of my small print shop.¡É And she felt in a silent prayer of gratitude after she said that and was remembering her dead husband. Edu Editora Gráfica prints mostly high quality advertising for a local supermarket.

Klaus Tiedemann, one of Gutenberg¡Çs owners mentioned: ¡ÈKomori sent three engineers and a printer to help us with the presses of the show and give additional training to our technicians and the technicians from other Komori distributors from Latin America. This was of great benefit. We are very satisfied with the sales made on the show and are sure that, when the next EXPOPRINT is held, Komori¡Çs market share in Brazil will be close to the leader.¡É

The second EXPOPRINT exhibition will be held in 2010.
